The SIA Close Protection Officer Training Course is for you if you’re interested in pursuing a career in the private security industry, specifically focused on a close protection security role or a bodyguard role. It’s suitable for beginners, experienced security professionals, and former armed forces and police personnel.
To become a Close Protection Officer (CPO), you must get a CPO SIA Licence, which requires completing a Close Protection Officer Training Course.

Qualifications Required to Become a Close Protection Officer (CPO)
Completing an SIA Close Protection Training Course is mandatory if you want to become a Close Protection Officer (CPO) in the UK.
The cost of an SIA Close Protection Licence is £184.
If you plan to apply for more than one SIA licence, you become eligible for a 50% discount. So you will need to pay £184 for the first SIA licence and £92 for any additional licences within the same application.
Besides this licence application fee, there are some additional costs, such as the SIA Close Protection Training Course and DBS criminal record check fees.

First, complete Hurak’s SIA Close Protection Training Course, which is assessed by a Physical Intervention Assessment and Multiple Choice Exams.
Complete the SIA licence application on the SIA website. Pay a non-refundable £184 licence application fee. If you already have an SIA licence, you will get a 50% discount. SIA will take around 25 working days to get back to you.
Complete identity checks at the Post Office.
Wait for the SIA to complete identity and criminal background checks.
Receive your 3-year licence in the post.
